Abby Waddell
Hi, everyone! My name is Abby Waddell, and I am so excited to join Creative Family Counseling as a counseling intern! I am starting my second year as a Couples and Family Therapy graduate student at the University of Louisville. I graduated from University of Louisville in May of 2025 with my Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology, a minor in Women and Gender Studies, and a certificate in LGBTQ+ Health Studies. Despite not having any experiences with therapy until my first-year of college, it was truly a life changing experience for me and led me to finding the right educational and career path that I feel so passionate about!
In addition to being a student therapist, I work part-time as a preschool teacher with over two years of experience working with children as young as 12 months to five years old as well as elementary and middle school aged children during summer camps. Play-based learning has always been the core of my work as a preschool teacher, and I am thrilled to be able to apply that experience towards play-based therapy here at Creative Family Counseling. Through my work, I have also gained much experience in communicating with the parents and guardians of children to collaborate and work together to encourage growth and healing for the child and family system as a whole.
In my free time, I love to go on walks with my dog, watch movies and tv shows, play video games, and read a nice book with a warm cup of tea! Cheesy romance books and chamomile tea is my go-to combo!
